Information

Come and join us on our popular, tried and tested course along the Flitch Way, in search of the pot of gold at the end of the 'Rayne'bow. How far will you decide to run on the day to find your pot of gold? It's entirely up to you.

Stretching for 15 miles through the Essex countryside between Braintree and Bishops Stortford, is The Flitch Way. It is the site of the original Bishops Stortford to Braintree Branch line, a single track railway, and was opened in 1869 and finally closed in 1969. Nowadays it is an important place for wildlife, and a perfect place for your next running achievement, whatever your chosen distance!

THE COURSE

The almost completely flat, traffic free, out and back course on hard-packed trail, will give you the opportunity to run as many or as few laps as you wish, within the time limit of 6 hours. The loops will be 5.3km in distance and so you will need to do 4 for a half marathon, 8 laps to cover full marathon distance, and then if you choose to continue, the clock will be your only limiting factor!

AID STATION

With an aid station at the end of every lap, you will have the ability to fuel yourself without having to carry everything you might need. You may leave a bag with your specific requirements at the aid station, for you to raid as you see fit! Alternatively there will be flapjacks, fruit and nuts, and also water and squash, should you feel like a change!

PLEASE NOTE – In an attempt to reduce our race-day plastic waste, this is a CUPLESS event!  We will provide all drinks and refreshments as per our usual aid stations, but you will need to provide a receptacle of some description.  It can be a reusable cup, soft flask or whatever vessel you choose, even your very own running shoe at the end of every lap, but we won’t be providing any cups at all, and there will be no drinking from jugs either!  We will, of course, be more than happy to assist you with the filling of whatever you choose as normal. If you wish, you are able to purchase a Hydrapak Speedcup online for £2 as part of your registration, or for £3.95 on race day.

An opportunity to run on a fast, lapped course, without the need to carry your usual ‘clobber’ and with a sought after, unique, bespoke medal, this promises to be a fantastic event for runners of all abilities.  UKA Affliated Member & Race Permit issued by TRA and a 100 Club qualifiying event.

LITTER & OTHER USERS

Please be mindful of other users of the Flitch Way and park responsibly.
