Information

Run from the Romans is a 5 or 10 mile night race in the historic surroundings of Ham Hill Country Park. Featuring an easy to follow course, great medals, well stocked aid stations and a route with a pub on the course right near the finish.

Ham Hill Country Park is just outside of Yeovil in South Somerset and near the villages of Odcombe, Montecute, Stoke-sub-Hamdon and Norton-sub-Hamdon. The country park forms an excellent backdrop for running in thanks to it’s iron age hill fort, modern and ancient quarries, woods and numerous historic sites and monuments. Our race HQ is the Ranger Hut (it’s bigger than a hut) near the Prince of Wales pub.

Aid Stations
There will be an aid stations on course and at the end for both races. For the 5 mile it is about 1 mile and 3 miles into the course. The 10 mile race will have an aid station at 1, 3, 5, 6 and 9 miles. There will be refreshments at the end for all races. As well as water our aid stations are stocked with a variety of sweets, fruits and other snacks.

Course Markings
The course will be well marked with plenty of signs with reflective elements. As well as marking the turnings we also have signs to warn when a turning is coming up and to block off wrong directions. Our races also have a breadcrumb style trail which lets you know you're on the course and heading in the right direction.

Terrain & Course
The 5 mile races are singular laps. The 10 mile race is 2 laps.

The course is mostly comprised of tracks and grass surfaces making up most of the surface, but there are also bits of tarmac. There may be mud in spots but overall the course is quite well drained.

Spectating
Spectators are welcome. The course is a 5 mile loop so no one place will see more of the runners than any other. There is a pub on the course which is good for spectating from. And there are many parts that you can see runners multiple times to cheer them on.
