Information

On a trail course far, far away (on the Essex coastline actually) rebel forces come together to fight against the rise of the 6hr challenge, to find a new hope of the fixed distance races. On the second day of the weekend double, choose from four distances on the same day.

We are hosting four race distances on the same day, with a schedule comprising of a trail 10k, Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultramarathon, all at our Brightlingsea venue. May the Force be with you, as you decide which distance to choose.

THE COURSE

This undulating, traffic free trail course, will give you the opportunity to run the distance of your choice. Each loop will be 10.54km/6.55mi in distance and so you will need to complete 2 laps for a half marathon, 4 laps to cover full marathon distance, and then if you choose the Ultra distance, a fifth lap will give you a total distance of nearly 33 miles. This will be the same course as the May the 4th event, but run in REVERSE!

AID STATION

With an aid station at the end of every lap, you will have the ability to fuel yourself without having to carry everything you might need. You may leave a bag with your specific requirements at the aid station, for you to raid as you see fit! Alternatively, there will be flapjacks, fruit and nuts etc, and also water and squash, should you feel like a change!

PLEASE NOTE – In an attempt to reduce our race-day plastic waste, this is a CUPLESS event!  We will provide all drinks and refreshments as per our usual aid stations, but you will need to provide a receptacle of some description.  It can be a reusable cup, soft flask or whatever vessel you choose, even your very own running shoe at the end of every lap, but we won’t be providing any cups at all, and there will be no drinking from jugs either!  We will, of course, be more than happy to assist you with the filling of whatever you choose as normal. If you wish, you are able to purchase a Hydrapak Speedcup online as part of your registration, or on race day.

An opportunity to run on a fast, lapped course, without the need to carry your usual ‘clobber’ and with a sought after, unique, bespoke medal, this promises to be a fantastic event for runners of all abilities.  UKA Affliated Member & Race Permit issued by TRA and a 100 Club qualifiying event.

CUT-OFF TIMES - The time limit for all distances will be 8 hours, which we expect will only affect those entering the ultra-marathon distance.

TOILETS

Toilets are located near Bateman’s Café on the West Promenade, in the car park at the end of Promenade Way. These will be accessible, before, during, and after the race.

Please view our Terms and Conditions before registering for any event.

LITTER & OTHER USERS

Please be mindful of other users of the promenade area and park responsibly. There will be no excuse for littering given the ability to dispose of any unwanted rubbish at the end of every lap in the bins provided. We would like to continue to return to this venue regularly and constant littering might make this difficult.

Brightlingsea is a small historical sailing town with much to offer the day visitor or as a base to explore the surrounding towns and countryside. http://www.brightlingsea-town.co.uk

Today Brightlingsea is a thriving town with many interesting old buildings set amongst a town centre of friendly mainly independent shops. The narrow streets lead down to the Town Hard where you can spend some leisurely time to watch the comings and goings, see families enjoying crabbing from the town jetty or disembarking from the ferry or visiting yachts.

From the Town Hard you can take a leisurely stroll along the promenade lined with colourful beach huts, past the open air swimming pool to Batemans Tower where you will find a café, children’s playground, skateboard park and the start of your next challenge!
