Information

Join us for the return to The Flitch Way at Rayne, for Rayne Revival. The venue has been closed to events for nearly a year, and this will be our first event back there and it's a bit special. There will be limited entries and the medal will hold the names of all entrants. This will be a celebration of the re-opening of the Flitch Way and a return to running as a group at this venue post-COVID regulations. The medal will be all kinds of awesome!

One catch - when will the event be? We don't know, but with the need to get the medals made in advance as soon as possible, here is our plan.

First entry phase - Entry fee of £25/27 to secure your place in the event, and your name on the medal. This is non-refundable under any circumstance.

Second entry phase - When we release the date, if you are unable to make it you can then opt to run the event virtually and pay nothing more. Assuming you can make it, you then pay the remaining £20 to confirm your full entry for the day.

As soon as we reach the limit of entrants, we will close the event entries and order the medals ready for the confirmation of the date. We will give you at least 4 weeks notice of the event.

You can expect a supercharged aid station with all the usual trimmings at the end of every 5km loop, and a whole year's worth of encouragement that we've kept locked up during lockdown!

Stretching for 15 miles through the Essex countryside between Braintree and Bishops Stortford is The Flitch Way. It is the site of the original Bishops Stortford to Braintree Branch line, a single-track railway, and was opened in 1869 and finally closed in 1969. Nowadays it is an important place for wildlife, and a perfect place for your next running achievement, whatever your chosen distance!

Mostly up or down, and sometimes almost flat, traffic-free, out and back course on the hard-packed trail, will give you the opportunity to run as many or as few laps as you wish, within the time limit of 6 hours. The loops will be 5.3km in distance and so you will need to do 4 for a half marathon, 8 laps to cover full marathon distance, and then if you choose to continue, the clock will be your only limiting factor!

AID STATION

With an aid station at the end of every lap, you will have the ability to fuel yourself without having to carry everything you might need. You may leave a bag with your specific requirements at the aid station, for you to raid as you see fit! Alternatively, there will be flapjacks, fruit and nuts, and also water and squash, should you feel like a change!

PLEASE NOTE – In an attempt to reduce our race-day plastic waste, this is a CUPLESS event!  We will provide all drinks and refreshments as per our usual aid stations, but you will need to provide a receptacle of some description.  It can be a reusable cup, soft flask or whatever vessel you choose, even your very own running shoe at the end of every lap, but we won’t be providing any cups at all, and there will be no drinking from jugs either!  We will, of course, be more than happy to assist you with the filling of whatever you choose as normal. If you wish, you are able to purchase a Hydrapak Speedcup online as part of your registration, or on race day.

An opportunity to run on a fast, lapped course, without the need to carry your usual ‘clobber’ and with a sought after, unique, bespoke medal, this promises to be a fantastic event for runners of all abilities.  UKA Affiliated Member & Race Permit issued by TRA and a 100 Club qualifying event.

Run Route & Aid Station (HQ)

The race will start at Rayne Station, New Road, Rayne, Braintree CM77 6RX, on the Flitch Way.

There is limited parking at the Booking Hall itself, but there is the opportunity to park on New Road, on the opposite side of the Flitch Way.

Please view our Terms and Conditions before registering for any event.

Please be mindful of other users of the Flitch Way and park responsibly. There will be no excuse for littering given the ability to dispose of any unwanted rubbish at the end of every lap in the bins provided. We would like to continue to return to this venue regularly and constant littering could make this difficult.
